More than 1,300 participants from our operating companies and the Head Office gathered at Kompleks Rakan Muda, Taiping on 16 November 2008 for the Group’s 8th Cross Country Run hosted by Silverstone Berhad.
Group Executive Director, Datuk Albert Cheng flagged off the runners in the four categories: Men’s Open, Men’s Veteran, Women’s Open and Women’s Veteran, on behalf of our Group Chairman and CEO, Tan Sri William Cheng who was away on an overseas business trip.
Prizes in the form of medals, Parkson vouchers, hampers and certificates were awarded to all the winners. Certificates were also given to all participants.
Posim Executive Director, Mr Ngan Yow Chong who is also the Chairman of the Group Sports and Recreation Committee; GMs, managers and staff were present to cheer the runners.
In his speech, Datuk Albert encouraged everyone to join in the activities as a way of getting to know each other in the Group. The overall champion award went to Antara Steel Mills which will keep the Tan Sri William Cheng Challenge Trophy until the next run. Amsteel Mills won the Best Contingent award. | Lucky staff walked away with Silverstone tyres, Parkson vouchers, room stay vouchers in Mahkota Hotel, electrical appliances, hampers and other products as lucky draw prizes. Faridah Mansor of Parkson Ipoh and Misman Rohid of Bright Steel won the two special lucky draw prizes of RM500 Parkson vouchers each contributed by Tan Sri William Cheng.
Silverstone, Posim Petroleum Marketing, Lion Best, Property Division and CEDR also set up booths to display their products and activities during the event. Earlier, Silverstone had organised a welcome dinner followed by a karaoke session for the participants on 15 November 2008 where Amsteel Klang’s Ong Sze Boon, who sang "I Just Call To Say I Love You" won the judges’ votes.
Everyone had an enjoyable time in Taiping and is looking forward to the run jointly organised by Amsteel Mills and Parkson next year.
