Minister of Housing & Local Government, Dato' Seri Ong Ka Chuan officiating Educare 2008.
Parkson Corporation Sdn Bhd together with Siri Jayanti Association and Yayasan Maha Karuna launched Educare 2008, an annual donation drive for school supplies at Parkson Grand Sunway Pyramid on 22 November 2008.
The event was officiated by the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan. Also present were General Manager - Operations, Mr Gui Cheng Hock; Chief Monk of Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Reverend B. Saranankara Thero and Siri Jayanti Association President, Mr Mervyn Weerasena.
For the past eight years, Parkson has been involved in the Educare programme with each Parkson store providing a bin for the public to leave their donations such as bags, shoes, uniforms and other schooling essentials. The donated items are distributed to needy students, Malaysia Children’s Aid Society, orphanages and NGOs nationwide. Last year, Educare managed to collect school items for 5,000 students. |
